Kuching

The Cat City, blending colonial waterfronts with ancient tribal heritage.

Welcome to Kuching

Kuching, the beautiful capital of Sarawak, is a historic city built along the banks of the scenic Sarawak River. Known as the "Cat City," it features a charming mix of British colonial architecture, Chinese temples, and Malay villages, making it a wonderful hub of cultural heritage.

Sarawak Cultural Village & Music Festivals

Just outside the city lies the Sarawak Cultural Village, a living museum showcasing the traditional longhouses and lifestyles of Sarawak’s diverse indigenous tribes. The city is also famous for hosting the annual Rainforest World Music Festival, which brings global musicians to perform under the jungle canopy.

Rainforest World Music Festival & Sarawak Regatta

Kuching is home to two legendary events. The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is held every July at the base of Mount Santubong. This world-renowned festival gathers international world musicians, indigenous performers, and thousands of travelers for three days of jungle concerts and music workshops. Later in the year, the historic Sarawak Regatta takes over the waterfront. Originally organized in 1872 by the White Rajahs to end tribal warfare, this colorful boat race features massive longboats paddled by dozens of warriors competing for the "King of the River" title.
