Camiguin Island

Camiguin Island

The Island Born of Fire - volcanic island with hot springs and pristine sandbars.

Welcome to Camiguin Island

Camiguin is a volcanic island in northern Mindanao, famous for containing more volcanoes per square kilometer than any other island on Earth. This unique geology has created a dramatic landscape of volcanic hot springs, cold springs, and striking black sand beaches.

The Sunken Cross & Volcanic Lakes

One of the island’s most iconic sights is the Sunken Cemetery, where a large cross rises from the sea marking a community cemetery that sank during a volcanic eruption in the 1870s. Just offshore, a spectacular, shifting white sandbar offers panoramic views of the island’s green volcanic peaks.

The Sweets of the Lanzones Festival

Every October, the island celebrates the highly popular Lanzones Festival. This week-long harvest celebration thanks the volcanic soils for yielding the sweetest Lanzones fruits in the region. The streets fill with vibrant parades of dancers wearing creative costumes decorated with lanzones fruits, alongside massive tropical fruit markets, street parties, and traditional music.
