Puerto Princesa
Home to the Puerto Princesa Underground River, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Welcome to Puerto Princesa
Puerto Princesa is the spacious, environmentally conscious capital of Palawan. Surrounded by deep bays and protected forest reserves, it is a global leader in ecological preservation.
The Underground River Caves
The city is the gateway to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring a spectacular 8.2-kilometer navigable underground river flowing directly under a majestic limestone mountain range into the sea.
Baragatan Festival & Subaraw Biodiversity Festival
Puerto Princesa hosts two massive cultural events. The Baragatan Festival in June celebrates Palawan’s rich culture with colorful street dancing competitions representing different municipalities and massive food fairs. Later in November, the city hosts the Subaraw Biodiversity Festival, celebrating the conservation of the Underground River with spectacular, animal-themed street dancing parades, light-up float competitions, and ecological workshops.
